In order to gain some inspiration for my latest creation, I scoured my varied sources of challenge blogs and stumbled upon Inkspirational's Purple Colour Challenge. Just as the name suggests, I had to incorporate purple into my designs, and I decided to also incorporate the second element of the challenge by allowing my card to focus around the theme of love. To me there is nothing in nature that screams love more than pairs of birds, and as such, I depicted two birds flying in unison as they equally support a sign with the word love emblazoned on it. Glean whatever symbolism you'd like from that description. My card also happens to coincide with Fairytale Challenge's Springs & Wings/ Feathers & Wings challenge as birds are quite often known for their ability to take flight due to the advantage of wings.
Even in its simplicity this has suddenly become one of my favorite cards. In order to create the sky and grass look I simply utilized markers and sponges in order to attain the desired effect, and then used a Stampin' Up bird punch for the two birds. I also had some string leftover from another project which I used as "rope". Hope you enjoy!

Not first in the usual way, but as in the first time for a long time. Today is the first time I have written on this blog for over three years. Wow, actually typing that makes me realize how much I've neglected this little space of the internet carved out just for me. Another first is the fact that today was the start of the first weekend without having an obscene amount of homework to complete by Monday which is definitely a plus. Now onto the actual first of the day. Today is the day I launched my Etsy site NoelleCorner! I originally intended for it to be called NoellesCorner, but due to an apparent lack of originality on my part, that name was already taken. My store is comprised of homemade cards, knit goods, and eventually any little idea that comes into my head that I feel is worthy enough to sell. So I am extremely excited to be looking after my own business, and of course making money by doing something I love.
To top off my blog post I've decided to show one of the cards for sale on my store. This is a thank you card with a shaker on front in which I used various beads inside. Other than that the card sort of speaks for itself. Hopefully I'll be back soon.
Over there I noticed that the most recent challenge is Just Add Tearing or Distressing. So I thought to myself: "This is THE perfect challenge for me". So, here's what I came up with, ENJOY!!!

When I saw this I immediately thought flowers and since the pink seems to be the main focus I decided to make my card by using the purple tones. So, here it is:

Since I have a very small amount of variety in paper I used Elegant Eggplant as the base and then (sorry that you can't see it) sponged Whisper White with some different blue chalks to try and give it a sky effect. The colors on the card are also different shades of purple and I put some pearls on the butterflies. I colored the flowers with markers and tried to match how in the pic the flowers have the light color on the outside and the dark color on the inside. Enjoy!Noelle's Cornerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03837940714933910679noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3594675795815644645.post-45145330586826210692010-08-13T11:53:00.000-07:002010-08-13T12:03:09.990-07:00Just Add Ink- Helping Hudson ChallengeThis week's challenge over at Just Add Ink was all about the Helping Hudson fundraiser. I went over to their blog and Hudson seems like a great little boy who just needs a little help getting his wheels in order to be more independent. So, onto the challenge, which was: just add wheels. Anything that was circular met the requirements. When you see my card you're probably wondering: Christmas, in July? Well, I'd just been given the daunting task of creating 20 Xmas cards and when I saw this challenge I was really motivated. So this is what I came up with, enjoy! (the circular part of my card is that the ornaments are made from one of the circle punches Stampin' Up! has.
This week you had to make something or I should say anything craft related as long as it didn't contain a square. So I CASE'd Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street (can't remember who originally made him) and used him as my entry, enjoy!
(probably not) Anyway, after she got the blog candy i sent her she sent me all of this great blog candy. Some DSP (of which I've already used in one of my cards), googly eyes (I was thinking about using those to put on some seashells and make little clam dudes and sea turtles, some ribbon flowers, and a container of Bella's Baubles from Stamping Bella.
I wanted to merge winter and summer so I did a snowman and sun stamp and with markers made the snowman look like he was melting. And instead of snow... GREAN GRASS!!! Then for the DSP and accents I chose a simple snowflake pattern and brads, and to tie it all together... Some ribbon! Hope you enjoyed my card today. Since you can't see I'd like to mention that two of the ribbons either have circles or squares. But isn't it cool? I'm still waiting for my box of stuff from Shirley S. to come but I can't wait!
